Hwalson Sunim founded the Detroit Zen Center in 1989. He is an American Zen Monk of 26 years with extensive training in North America and Korea in the Lin-chi (Rinzai) tradition. He teaches foundational Zen practice in a way befitting for this age and culture.  He serves the Zen Center as it's resident teacher and conducts classes, retreats, and services.  Sunim also offers varying degrees of residential and non-residential training and apprenticeship in Zen.
