Retreat at Cloud Mountain Hermitage in the U.P. 9/29-10/1

Join monks from the Detroit Zen Center at the hermitage, with a pebbled shorline on Lake Superior, inside the Porcupine Mountains of the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  The retreat will include a daily schedule of morning & evening meditation (with guidance from our Abbot & Zen monk Hwalson Sunim), organic, vegan meals, widlerness walks, and afternoon manual work projects around the property.

This retreat requires a phone interview before registering if you are not currently a member of the Detroit Zen Center.

Retreat participants are welcome to arrive on Wednesday and/or leave on Monday, if desired, for an additional $25 per night, in order to spend a little more time at the Hermitage and in the wilderness.  

Getting there:   

Driving:  We are 500 miles from Detroit, 100 miles west of Marquette.  

Flying:  Both Hancock & Ironwood airports are 1 hour from the hermitage.  From those cities you can either rent a car, or we can pick you up for $30 round trip.   Direct flights on Delta from Chicago/Detroit/Minneapolis to either Marquette or Iron Mountain happen 2x daily.  You can rent a car from there.  Both cities are 2 hours from the Hermitage.
