OVERVIEW
We offer short term and long term residency.  The residency is strictly vegetarian. The Zen Center is set across 3 buildings & 3 city lots, with a 3 story historic home (Residency) adjacent & connected to a 5000 sf commercial building (Zen Center), which share gardens, green roofs, and an adjoining corridor.  The Residency is a clean, lovely, spacious home with 4 single bedrooms, & a 3rd floor loft studio.  The 4 bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, and share 2 full bathrooms, a
kitchen with many amenities, living room, dining room, porch & 2 gardens.  Two cats live on site; no additional animals or children are permitted.

SPACES/ROOMS

The loft studio is on the 3rd floor.  It is an exquisite space with antique wood floors, high ceilings, abundant light, a queen bed & full sized futon, desk, seating, full bathroom (shower) & kitchenette.  It also has a private balcony that overlooks and accesses the green roof & its walking paths.  Four 3-foot sliding glass windows and balcony doors offer sweeping views, breeze and light.  The loft is a world away.

Rooms 1-3 are clean, cozy, simply appointed rooms, each with a bed, desk, bureau, chair, window & closet.  Room 4 overlooks the green roof through large sliding glass windows, and is about double the size of a single bedroom.

The Zen Center building is a large hall, with a main floor meditation hall, and a lower level cafe & commercial kitchen.   Residents may use a guest room in the meditation hall and join the daily schedule of practice, meals & work projects, by donation. Please make arrangements with the Director.  The neighborhood is walkable, eclectic, safe & very diverse. You can reserve a room as a Zen Stay guest (short term) through Airbnb, or by sending an email.  Long term resident inquiries should email the Director:  info@detroitzencenter.org, or call the office:  313.366.7738 Some photos of the spaces can be viewed below.
